Welcome to my world. I am a middle-aged male locked in the good fight. I try to balance work with being a good father and husband and even have a little fun once in a while. Expect a free-form collection of musings, observations and the occassional rant.

I was listening to the traffic report on the way home, like I always do when I hearad about a terrible traffic accident that would affect my commute should I take my usual route. So I went another way. The news station I listen to does "traffic on the 3's", every minute that ends with a 3 they update the traffic report. Again the accident that caused me to detour was mentioned, this time discussed as to its severity. Apparently a car had crossed a lane and hit an SUV head on and there were ex...

One day later and I have not returned home yet. I had a terrible nights sleep and I got up at 5 to go to work. Fortunateley I had a very busy day and I haven't had much time to think about the events of last night. I have suspected all day that when I finally have a minute I will be overcome by a retroactive wave of guilt, pain and desire to patch things up. It started as a routine argument, one of the many we have had lately. I was on edge and very angry at her because of the way she talked to me earlier and her general intolerance of our children. I played the last round of golf of the year with my dad today at our favorite course in Maine. While I may play again this year I most likely will not get to play with him until next summer. Golf is the first sport that has bonded my father and I. We have always watched Baseball and Football rabidly and as a kid he coached my baseball teams. But the only sport we play together is Golf. The reason I took up the sport was to find an activity we could do together. If you must hit a silly litt...

Yesterday was a day I would like to forget. I had a wonderful but long week at work including two days of travel. I could not wait to get home, and as usual traffic was keeping me from where I needed to be. I fought traffic for 2 1/2 hours to travel 65 miles in great anticipation of seeing the family, drink a few beers and watch some Red Sox pre-season play with my seven year old son. I walk in the door, the road rage drains from my body as I fall to the floor to let them jump all over m...
